PPA Inc. • Formed in the 1970s. • Called the Association of Paid Circulation Publications (APCP) for years to distinguish it from controlled circulation publications.
PPA Inc. • Renamed the Periodical Publications Association in 1994 to reflect that members represent both paid and requestor publications • Goal is to provide information. a forum for networking and to represent the interests of Periodical publishers
PPA Inc. • Also representation on MTAC and before the Postal Rate Commission • MTAC representatives: • Jack Widener, Newsweek • Steve W. Smith, Christian Science Publishing
PPA Inc. • Small association – about 20 members • Focus on education & networking • Four quarterly Postal Roundtables featuring key leaders from the Postal Service and the publishing industry • Usually held at Newsweek in New York
PPA Inc. • Intimate setting offers opportunity for interaction and discussion • Formal presentations are followed by lunch during which participants continue to network and talk with speakers
