Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19) • And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11,12) • Call for students to do work while in training (University) E.G. White • Medical Missionaries play an important part in fulfilling the Gospel commission (E. G. White) • Currently the IAD has one of the lowest number of Missionary Volunteers serving in foreign fields Why Go?
We are the fastest growing field in all World Divisions • 13 Universities • Talent pool of trained professionals in all fields: Medical, Education, etc… Strengths
Lack of Promotion of the Volunteer Program • Lack of Funding for prospective Volunteers • NO telling of success stories Weakness
Spiritual benefits • Work experience gained • Personal satisfaction in helping others • Cultural appreciation of others • Relief staff for Institutions who are understaffed Benefits of volunteering
Support needed at all levels GC, IAD, Unions, Conferences, Churches • Visitation of Universities to promote the AVS program • Provide an updated list of actual AVS Vacancies/Calls • Fundraising events • Collaborative efforts among institutions • Promotion of success stories Increasing the numbers
Each Union to provide a list of volunteers they have sent out and are currently serving or completed, • Each Union to contact volunteers who have returned from active service in the mission field and will interview them. Their success stories/experience should be documented and their actual experience told in Volunteer Club Meetings and at Fundraising events. • Set up a Volunteer Club on every campus and appoint a former volunteer to be its President. This person will work in partnership with the Volunteer Coordinator of each Union/Institution. Club operations manual to be created. • IAD Coordinator to work in partnership with Club Presidents and Union/Institution Coordinators to promote the AVS program. • Each Union will host a yearly Volunteer Fundraising Benefit that will attract Media and bring together all the levels of the SDA church. The funds collected will remain in a Fund from which to sponsor airfare, living expenses for prospective volunteers. Funds will be managed by the IAD, through the Unions. Action plan
CONCERT: This benefit Event will seek to bring together Adventist as well as national resources within the country where the benefit event is being held. Using music and poetry and testimonies as a tool these concerts will be done on a yearly basis and will seek to do several things :- raise funds, raise awareness of the volunteer programs and its activities, raise awareness for the church in the national community through media and give persons an opportunity to experience the achievements of volunteering. The national media will be invited to the benefit concert so they can get a firsthand glimpse into the work that the church and the volunteers engage in. The event intends to be high impacting and far reaching and will use the Social Media and Live Feed Technology to broadcast the event all over the IAD territory. We are aspiring to surpass our goals on an annual basis and reach as many persons through our message. Action plan cont’d
