Group Responsibilities • Observation Candidates and Performance Evaluation Group • Survey known occultations for the next two years and determine launch and orbit timing to intercept some of them. See:http://www.asteroidoccultation.com • http://www.asteroidoccultation.com/2014-Best-Events.htm • Compute SNR as the design firms up and produce illustrative graphics of an example occultation • Light Gathering Optics Design Group • Design of entire optic: Primary, deployable secondary truss, detectors • Formation Design Group • Work out deployment process using Euler-Hill dynamics. • Sketch requirements on carrier vehicle, & on P-Pod dispensers; propulsion req’mts • Produce illustrative graphic • GNC and Communications Group • Design attitude control system: sensors, actuators, star tracking and pointing, comm system trades, architecture and final design • Propulsion Group • System req’mts, for orbit insertion and maintenance, system design • Power and Thermal group • Power req’mts & power system design, thermal requirements and thermal control • Structures Group • CubeSat structure, packaging, 2nd-ary deployer, CAD drawings
Immediate Tasks • Elect a Technical Group Leader (TGL) for your group • PM, APM, and DCH will be responsible for the project time-line, for assembling and finalizing cost data from the groups, and for reviewing the Final Presentation, and organizing the event • Complete the Team Mate Evaluation form (on the website) for the people in your PDR team.
