2035 Mobility Vision Plan. Status of Public Involvement Activities October 29, 2010. Public Comment Period. On August 12 th the TPO Board Meeting approved the 2035 Draft Cost-Feasible Plan for public review and comment. TPO staff is in the process of soliciting comments on the Draft Plan.

Public Comment Period • On August 12th the TPO Board Meeting approved the 2035 Draft Cost-Feasible Plan for public review and comment. • TPO staff is in the process of soliciting comments on the Draft Plan. • The TPO has held four public workshops and been available at several community events in support of the public comment period - August through October. • The TPO has scheduled an adoption hearing for December 7th for the final approval of the Plan.

Public Workshops Poinciana • Best attendance – most vocal. • Lack of routes in and out of the community • MVP - Not enough investment in the area - Poinciana Parkway/CPP??? Bike/Ped Projects • CR 580 (Cypress Parkway) – poor condition & not safe.
Public Comments Highway Projects Additions: • Thompson Nursery Rd Ext., Pollard Rd, CR 655, CR 580, Central Polk Parkway, SR 60 @ US 27. Remove: • US 17/92 (Haines City/Davenport), Western Polk Connector (NW Lakeland), Chalet Suzanne Rd, Marigold Avenue and Central Polk Parkway
Public Comments Transit Projects Additions: • Commuter Rail (US 92/CSX) (300-303), Bus Service along I-4, USFP to Winter Haven (T-106), Mulberry to Lake Wales (T-117), Winter Haven to HSR Stop (T-198), more Bus Shelters. Remove: • High Speed Rail (I-4).
Public Comments Sidewalk Projects Additions: • All roads in the Urban Areas, Marigold/ Poinciana Parkway, SR 60 (SR 17 to 11th), Fish Hatchery Road, US 98 & 17 (“bus stops should be more accessible”), CR 540 (Clubhouse Rd). Remove: • Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road and portions of SR 60.
Public Comments Bicycle & Trail Projects Additions: • Lunn Rd (BL), Shepherd Rd (BL), Clubhouse Road (BL), Poinciana Parkway/Marigold Ave (BL), Mamouth Grove Road (TR), Implement Ridge Scenic Highway Bike/Ped Master Plan Remove: • Old Bartow Eagle Lake Road and portions of SR 60. “Don’t fund any new trails until the economy improves.”

Public Comments If current transportation funding sources (federal, state, and local gas taxes) are not enough to meet future transportation needs, how should projects be funded in Polk County?
Public Comments What other transportation improvements should be addressed in the MVP? • More Mass Transit; • No need for new roads in rural areas – focus on improvements in the Urban Areas; • Prioritize existing projects before starting new ones; • More sidewalks.
