Biography… • Born January 9, 1913 • Had a rough early life, losing two brothers before age 21 • Graduated 2nd in his class at Whittier High School in 1930 • Graduated 2nd in his class also at Whittier college, which earned him a full scholarship to the Duke University of Law • Graduated 3rd in his class at Duke in 1937
Road to Presidency… • Served as a Navy lieutenant during WWII • Won a senate seat in 1950 • 1952, General Eisenhower selected Nixon as his running mate • 1960, lost his first race for presidency • 1962, lost race to become California governor • 1968, won first election for president over Hubert H. Humphry • Again won for his second term in 1972 by one of the widest margins in history
