  1. MOM report Sept. 22nd – Oct 24th, 2011 Giorgio CECCHET INFN Pavia, ITALY

  2. MOM report Sept. 22nd – Oct 24th, 2011 Giorgio CECCHET INFN Pavia, ITALY [I (DMK) was MOM for 2 weeks prior to Giorgio. He was unable to come so  I’m presenting his talk for him.]

  3. MOM report • Upgrading work going on in the Hall. • Floor laydown is going on:

  4. MOM report • Very “quiet” period from data taking point of view. • After the first target failed, a second one has been installed and tested. The test was very successful: it behaved as expected and the next data taking will put it under a definitive test. You can read the eLog 1823 for a detailed work done during target test.

  5. MOM report • Some problems running DAQ. During target test all went smoothly but running DAQ without actuating the target did not work. The workaround was to simulate the signal from target using a fake signal (see Henry’s eLog 1862 for a more detailed discussion of the problem).

  6. MOM report • Water. We had various problems with water in the Hall. • During target test we powered on the magnets of the beamline and the A/C units. Few minutes after, the A/C n.1 began to drip water just by the side of the TOFs HV crates and we had to switch it off. After few days it was found that a not well connected pipe was the cause of the leakage.

  7. MOM report • A second leak appeared just under the LH2 setup:

  8. MOM report • Two pumps in the trench have been switched off and this affected the He Compr. Unit:

  9. MOM report • Magnets and A/C weekly test: after the problems we had at the beginning of my MOM period, I decided to test, once a week, the full set of magnets of the beam line and the A/C units. Every Monday, after the Hall is clear of people working in it, the A/C are switched on. Then the magnets are powered up and remotely the current is set to 100 A for those inside the DSA and ISIS ring while Q7-Q9 only to 50 A (to avoid free metal pieces to be collected by them). After 1 h, the magnets and A/C units are switched off and a report is made.

  10. MOM report • MOM laptop: few odd problems with the MOM laptop (disconnected from the network, unknown IP address, etc.). I suggest to replace it with a new one with updated OS and utility programs. • Manuals: Linda is taking care to update the official suite of manuals on computer. I strongly suggest to keep a copy of them on an iPad (or whichever tablet you prefer) to avoid loads of paper in the MLCR.

  11. MOM report • EMR: packed and ready to be sent back to Univ. Geneva :

  12. MOM report • The new MOM is now Paul Hodgson for the next couple of weeks. • Wish a good data taking in December and a fruitful meeting to you all!
