Harsher Punishments Instead of Harsher Laws. More Deaths in U.S. than Guns. Thousands of people die yearly due to medical errors or unexpected reactions to certain medication.

More Deaths in U.S. than Guns • Thousands of people die yearly due to medical errors or unexpected reactions to certain medication. • If we end up passing more laws on guns and not allowing certain kinds then we should do the same for the doctors that make mistakes and up prescribing the wrong medication to patients. NRA and Police • There was recently a poll of 15,00 police officers and nearly nine out of every ten believe more gun control will not keep people safer, instead more armed citizens would help. • A NRA press release of their poll findings indicate that over 95% of people think more gun laws would not help reduce violent crime Credits: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/04/robert-farago/cops-gun-control-wont-work/
Harsher Punishment not Laws • Passing more laws and banning high capacity magazines won’t help curb gun violence. People can easily modify the magazines to carry more rounds and can easily modify a gun to be automatic instead of a semi-automatic. • Instead there need to be more harsher punishment's for illegally obtaining guns and injuring others. People who do obtain guns illegal don’t care about the consequences because they are not harsh enough. Follow the link in the Description to see the punishments for illegally obtaining a firearm in different states.. http://www.cga.ct.gov/2012/rpt/2012-R-0345.htm
Extreme Example of Why Laws Don’t Stop People • Two men recently are suspected of bombing a marathon in Boston. Their names are Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his brother is Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. • Three people died from the bombings and hundreds were injured in the process. • It’s highly illegal to make a bomb, let alone use it to kill people and injure hundreds in the process
My Personal Analysis • Some people have mental/psychological problems that can’t be helped while others blatantly cause harm to others with guns and have no remorse for those who are hurt or the consequences that lay ahead. • We need to have harsher punishments for those who violate the gun laws that we have in effect currently. • Over these few months into the new year of 2013 I’ve seen on the news and internet constant deaths and violence because of guns. If we don’t let guns fall into the wrong hands we wouldn’t have as many problems as we do now. Those who break the current gun laws need to be shown that doing so will result in severe punishments than a year or two in jail
