First airplane fatality in history, Fort Meyer Virginia • The first airplane fatality in history occurred in 1908 when Lt. Thomas Selfridge was killed in this plane piloted by Orville Wright. Husband places bomb aboard to collect insurance on his wife, Quebec, Canada • The wreckage of a Canadian Pacific Airlines DC-3 in Quebec, Canada on which Albert Guay placed a dynamite bomb in order to collect on a 10,000 dollar insurance policy on his wife. Boeing B-767 runs out of fuel after being hijacked, Moroni, Comoros Wreckage of an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 767 along a beach on Moroni, Comoros. Aeromexico midair collision with a Piper, Cerritos, California • An Aeromexico DC-9 going down over Cerritos, California after colliding with a Piper Archer. All 64 aboard the DC-9, 3 on the Piper and 15 on the ground were killed. (August 31, 1986)
Midair collision between a United Airlines DC-8 and TWA Constellation, Staten Island, New York • The wreckage of a United Air Lines DC-8 that crashed into the streets of Brooklyn, New York after colliding with a TWA Super Constellation over Staten Island in 1960. All 128 people aboard both planes were killed along with 6 on the ground. The accident occurred after DC-8 flew past its holding pattern at twice the speed it was authorized to go. An El Al cargo plane crashes into apartments, Amsterdam, Holland
This El Al Boeing 747 cargo plane crashed in Holland, killing all 4 crew members and 47 people on the ground. The aircraft lost its No.3 and 4 engines. LOCKERBIE • On December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all 259 people on board as well as 11 on the ground. • The bomb was hidden in a Toshiba radio-cassette player in a brown Samsonite suitcase.
On Tuesday, 25 July 2000 Concorde 203, F-BTSC out bound from Paris to New York crashed 60 seconds after take off after suffering tyre blow out that caused a fuel tank to rupture.
