  4. Facts! Pennsylvania was settled in 1643. It is known as “The Keystone State” and as “The Commonwealth”. The Constitution of the United States, The American Declaration of Independence, and Lincolns Gettysburg Address were all written in Pennsylvania. It has 45,888 square miles. 310 miles east to west and 180 miles north to south. It has 67 counties and had a population of 12,009,000 people.
