Modern Day Cell Phones • Through the years, cell phones have dramatically changed. At first, cellular devices were only capable of one task, phone calls. • Now, over 6 billion people have full internet capabilities in the palm of their hand.
Modern Day Cell Phones Continued • There are currently over 13,000 health and fitness applications available for use on both Apple and Android powered systems. • The cost of these programs can vary in price. • Starting as a free download or costing as much as $9.99.
Benefits of SMARTPHONE applications • Convenience • Easy to use • Provides nutritional information • Offers workout tips, and educational videos • Progress tracking software • Sharing Capabilities (Example: Updating information to Facebook, Twitter, ETC.)

Useful Advice • After researching health and fitness applications, I have found that the app’s I have listed are ranked highly on android and apple operating systems. • However, there are thousands of health and fitness applications that are readily available at your finger tips. • Some include: • Fitness Magazines • Calorie Calculators • Healthy Alternatives (Such as restaurant alternatives to fast food)
Conclusion • With the obesity rate of the United States and other countries drastically rising, I feel as though it is safe to say that we are not taking advantage of these applications. • They are cheap, easy to use, and always available. • These applications have the potential to extremely improve our overall health and fitness. • Finally, these applications give us the opportunity to change our lifestyle. Its time to stop blaming technology for our bad health. We need to use it to improve it.
