WP5 Task T5.4 Upgrades : Gulf of Biscay and Western Channel (GDGE V1 : IFREMER) Few informations about the upgrades of this system ... • Other initial and boundary conditions have been tested : - PSY2 OBC for TS / Reynaud climatology - MOG2D OBC for SSH / 2D larger IFREMER model (red box in fig) • A finer resolution of 1km is planned • TS (in situ & satellite) assimilation is planned SST GDGE / SST SAFO • Validation of the forecasts in real time / satellite SST (SAFO) ECOOP Annual Meeting Athens, 12-15 February 2008 Daily Bias Daily RMS

WP5 Task T5.4 Upgrades : Irish shelf area (IMI-NE-Atlantic V1 : IMI) • A new rotated domain => boundaries located in deep water, avoiding intersecting either Hatton or Rockall Banks => tidal boundary condition much more accurate => best forecasts of SSH on the Irish coast • 2 runs / week => a best prediction of storm surge sea levels • An OpenDAP server soon ready for the TOP exp. • Output netcdf files in standard COARDS format • Validation of the forecasts in real time / tide gauge data, radiometer SST & ARGO float profiles of TS Radiometer PSY2 IMI-NE-Atl SST ECOOP Annual Meeting Athens, 12-15 February 2008
