Major Beliefs of Islam Islamic people believe that… • Allah is the one and only God • Muhammad is the founder and final prophet of Islam • There is forever lasting life after death (either in heaven or hell • Purpose of life is to live on good Islamic morals to prepare for eternal life in heaven The Koran (Qur’an) is the major holy text of Islam. • The Koran is said to have the exact and preserved words of Allah.
Important Ceremonies of Islam • Ramadan • Starts in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. • The Muslim people are mandated to fast from sun up to sun down (excluding the people who are sick and unable). • The end of the month is celebrated by Eid-ul-Fitr for completing the month of fasting. • Hajj • Is a pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia • This is mandatory, that all Islam people make the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime (if capably fit). • The purpose of this pilgrimage is to worship Allah under the Sacred House or the Kabah.
