Lafayette?) – prep hike • May 30: Memorial Day parade, flag marking • June 20-23: Presidential Traverse long • distance hike in the White Mtns (NH) • July: Summer Camp • Other events in planning stage: Maine canoe trip, • Kaaterskills Falls hike, Knox Trail hike, Adirondack • caving expedition, Philmont trip ’07. • Georges Island (Boston Harbor) campout • Mount Monadnock campout • Nobscot GPS / Geocaching campout • Miles Standish SF Bike Trip/campout • Whitewater Rafting trip on the Fife Brook • 5 local campouts (we try to camp every month) • Computer Merit Badge • Personal Management Merit Badge • Survival Kit Holiday Party • Scouting for Food & other service work • THIS IS WHAT TROOP 2 IS ALL ABOUT: • APPRECIATING AND REALLY LIVING THE SCOUT VALUES • INSTILLING A SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY & RESPECT • HIGH QUALITY, INTERESTNIG TRIPS • TRAINING – BOTH OUTDOOR SKILLS AND LIFE SKILLS • KEEPING YOUR SON INTERESTED IN SCOUTING • ENCOURAGING THE ACHIEVEMENT OF EAGLE RANK AND PROVIDING THE TOOLS AND GUIDANCE TO HELP EACH SCOUT REACH THIS AT THEIR OWN PACE • MAKING EVERY MEETING AND EVERY EVENT MEANINGFUL • NO SINGLE FAMILY DICTATORSHIP HERE, EVERYONE WORKS TOGETHER. WE HAVE A VERY GOOD COMMITTEE AND EVERYONE WORKS TOGETHER AS FRIENDS • A SCOUT LEAD TROOP (LOGISITICALLY RUN BY ADULTS] Starting in January 2007, Troop is will offer a unique outdoors skills training program. After 15 lessons, the scouts qualify to be "ELITE OUTDOORSMEN" and are awarded a special uniform patch and certificate. Upon completing the full outdoor requirements, they will be awarded the camping, hiking, backpacking, and wilderness survival merit badges (all 4 of them!) along with the Leave No Trace award. Scouts in Troop 2 will really learn to be confident and comfortable in the outdoors. TROOP MAKEUP: • 35 scouts, 11 Life or Stars preparing for Eagle. • 10 scouts with CLT – Leadership scout • 92 scouts from Troop 2 have earned Eagle – • Highest number from any troop in MA • Fully trained adult leaders. • Active supportive troop committee with • Generous parents willing to help. • Well funded, very good equipment.
