“Purpose Driven Leadership”Gateway Christian Leadership Conference 2013 A.D. Host Pastor: Carl Lucas GOD FIRST CHURCH http://GODFIRSTCHURCH.org
The topic of “Purpose Driven Leadership” is indeed vast; therefore, we will need to PAC in much into this period. Please make notes and answers will be provided at selected intervals during the presentation. The thrust of this presentation is to make you more aware of discerning God’s Word and guidance as you continue to serve Him, while also making you see the opposition of the enemies who are working against you, including yourself who may be the most subtle of all and the most difficult therefore, to deal with
The thrust of this portion of the conference is to: • Rejuvenate our spirits through encouragement by the Scriptures. • 2) Equip leaders in the Church to improve the only quality that is actually a skill and not a character trait described by God through the Apostles for leaders in the Church. • 3) Appointed or Anointed? • 4) Identifying your purpose within HIS Purpose. • 5) Who's Purpose really matters?
Lets face it: Being in Leadership has it’s ups and downs 1Co 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Emotional Sanctification How can we separate Fallen human emotion that tries to impede the way we respond to the work of leading God’s way and not act in the flesh?
There is a warfare between man’s law and God’s and we must always realizewhich one will ultimately prevail; but we must also render unto Caesar.
In our day we are dealing with mind sets that are electronically affected by trends that have redefined the structure of what we think really matters.
Rejuvenate our spirits through encouragement by the Scriptures. • Romans 15:1 – 7 states: • Rom 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. • Rom 15:2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. • Rom 15:3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. • Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. • Rom 15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: • Rom 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. • Rom 15:7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
2) Equip leaders in the Church to improve the only quality that is actually a skill and not a character trait described by God through the Apostles for leaders in the Church. • Biblical Leadership vs. "Un-Biblical" Leadership • Biblical leadership always has at it's core a motivation toward Christ - likeness, Who did all things to please His Father, whose greatest motivation is His LOVE for all of mankind, especially those who believe Him. • Biblical leadership is always based on providing the followers with content extracted from the Biblical text from a suitable context to be applied to the situation at hand.
Equip leaders in the Church to improve: lead by learned holy behavior 1Tim 3:1 – 10 KJV (Also see Titus 1:5 – 16 Next Slide) 1Tim 3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 1 Tim 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 1 Tim 3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 1 Tim 3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 1 Tim 3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 1 Tim 3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 1 Tim 3:7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 1 Tim 3:8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; 1 Tim 3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 1 Tim 3:10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
Equipping leaders in the Church to study & improve Tit 1:5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: Tit 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; Tit 1:8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; Tit 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. Tit 1:10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
Equipping leaders in the Church to improve the only quality Requiring a gift honed by diligence (Titus 1:10 – 16) Tit 1:10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Tit 1:11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. Tit 1:12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. Tit 1:13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Tit 1:14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Tit 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. Tit 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Biblical VS. Un-Biblical? • a) Corporate strategies may have a form or an appearance of success strictly from the sheer number of participants involved. • However, the magnitude of attendance in and of itself may not necessarily be a reliable indication that God is being glorified. • a big crowd will have the view of the non- saved observer who looks upon the outward appearance
Corporate, political and other “secular” Leadership models Fall Short Many are the techniques that have been used by the leadership of many that have left many shipwrecked in their faith when they have become involved in the Church. 1Ti 1:3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 1Ti 1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 1Ti 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 1Ti 1:6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 1Ti 1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
The moto of secular leadership for those who fail to meet their standards: “We will Throw you under the bus”
The WORD is all sufficient for all required growth for the Christian OT NT Holy Spirit
The Purpose of God Is the exaltation of JESUS Christ The heavens and the earth shall pass away; but my Words Shall Never Pass away! (Mark 13:31)
Let’s not get too far a-head now! There can be a benefit to knowing the worldly mind-set For the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light. Luke 16:8b
Jesus said Follow ME and I will make you become Fishers of men Jesus Is A Blessing! Ain’t God Alright? Halleluiah!
Freed By the golden chain Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

If you view the world from this perspective, no wonder you feel defeat!
