  5. Single Outcome Agreement Local Outcome Agreement 2: The economy of the Outer Hebrides and the economies of the Outer Hebrides are Thriving

  8. Third Sector Contribution (1) 178 Jobs (99 FTE) 41 full-time 137 part-time Annual Income (2011) Around £3 million Volunteers 70+ groups run entirely by volunteers

  9. Third Sector Contribution (2) • Using a local multiplier value of 1.77, the Third Sector makes an annual contribution to the local economy of: £5.25 million* • *2011 contribution when income figures have not been adjusted for inflation

  11. Third Sector Survey, cont Since 2007 charities and community groups across Uist have secured more than £2 million in National Lottery Good Causes funding. The funds have been used to fund workshops, purchase equipment, pay for staffing costs, upgrade facilities and carry out feasibility studies.

Micro Enterprises 200+ Micro Enterprises Crofting, fishing, accommodation, beauty & hair, music, creative industries, construction, media, transport & logistics, business services, childcare, food and drink… • Survey to look at: • Why people started or took on their businesses • Employment levels • Access to funding • Expectations for local economy • Factors affecting business expansion • Local income and spending

  15. Conclusion • 117 Projects • Priorities – services, jobs, tourism, transport • Projects meet objectives of LOA • Third Sector contributes £5.25 million to local economy • 99 FTE Jobs in Third Sector in the Uists • Strong enterprise culture – 200+ micro enterprises
