The Republic of Georgia And why we should invest
Overview • The Republic of Georgia is a small country that lies north of the Caucasus of the Middle East. It borders Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, and the Black Sea. The Moneybags Investment Group should highly consider Georgia as a prime location for our next operation to provide employment opportunities to countries.
Important Statistics Georgia has a mostly agricultural labor force. By providing an industry in Georgia, we will entice more people to work for us in industry. They will want to work in industry because it makes more money than agriculture. People who work in service industries will not want to work for us because they would make less money than if they stayed in service.
UNEMPLOYMENT • When we look to invest in a country, we pay close attention to the unemployment rate. A country with a high unemployment rate means that lots of people can work for us, but afterwards, many people will still be unemployed. A low unemployment rate means that not many people will work for us. A mid-level unemployment rate is just right because many people will work for us AND the unemployment rate will noticeably get smaller.
Industrial Opportunities • Georgia, being a small country, has limited resources. However, the resources it does have are coal, petroleum, and good soil. Since our choices of industry do not involve good soil, we are left with only one option: an oil refinery. The petroleum found in Georgia can be used in our oil refinery. • Georgia is one of the few countries in the world that can boast a 100% literacy rate. This means that 100% of males and females ages 15+ in the country can read and write. Workers who can read and write are much better workers than others who cannot read/write. • Georgia has a large median age and life expectancy. [Median Age = 38.8 yrs. ; Life Expectancy at Birth = 76.93 yrs.] • Georgia is also located on the Black Sea, which borders many other countries. If we were to build our refinery on the shores of the Black Sea, we would be able to ship our goods to many different countries. Georgia has many positive aspects, but not all is well when it comes to building a factory in this country.
PROBLEMS IN GEORGIA • Georgia has a high unemployment rate, with the 155th highest in the world. To put this into perspective, the USA currently has an 9% unemployment rate, and many people are worried it could rise. Although building a factory will reduce unemployment, there are some countries that a few factories just won’t change. • Georgia’s landscape is largely mountainous. With the Greater Caucasus in the north, the Lesser Caucasus in the south, and the Kolkhida Lowland Foothills in the west, there is hardly any room to build a factory on flat land. • Georgia suffers from earthquakes. • Georgia is slightly smaller than South Carolina.
SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS IN GEORGIA • Although a few factories do not highly affect the unemployment rate, many factories do make a difference. If we were to build many factories in Georgia, the unemployment rate would noticeably shrink. • On the shores of the Black Sea, the land is flat. There are also many port cities. The port city of Batumi seems like a prime location for our first oil refinery (to be continued later). • Human civilization has evolved far enough that we have access to advanced materials that can make buildings more resistant to earthquakes. • Even though Georgia is fairly small, we can use the same techniques that we have learned are used in Japan. The Japanese use “intensive cultivation” which is farming every available piece of land. I see no reason why we can’t do the same with our industries.
Location, Location, Location The port city of Batumi is a prime location to build our first oil refinery. It is sizably populated, and is located on the Black Sea. In the map above, the arrow is pointing to Batumi.
Final Overview Georgia is a great place for the Moneybags Investment Group (LLC) to begin an industry. Its high literacy rate and central location allow for countless opportunities for an oil refinery. I hope that you consider choosing Georgia for our next operation to provide economic opportunities to countries.
