When should you upgrade to Management Reporter? • Management Reporter is supported with all SL2011 versions • FRx is supported with: • SL2011 • SL2011SP1 • SL2011FP1 • FRxwill not be supported with: • The next version after SL2011 FP1 • Currently upgrading? Then we recommend: • Upgrade FRxfor continuity inproducing financial reports • Then afterwards implement MR – before your next upgrade • De
Migration from FRx to MR Steps in Management Reporter • Install and configure the application • Configure companies • Review menus and toolbars • Get familiar with the product • Import Demo reports • Create some reports and building blocks • Prior to migration, export the new reports and building blocks • After migration, you can import them back in
Migration from FRx to MR Steps in FRx • Cleanup the reports, rows, columns, trees - get rid of the junk! • Document features that won’t migrate – i.e. Account Sets • Backup Microsoft FRx data folders (sysdata) • Make sure no one using Microsoft FRx • Delete unnecessary companies and building blocks • Delete company index files (*.g32) • Set remaining companies as default • Compact system databases
Delete Index files - .G32 files then launch FRx to recreate them.
Migration from FRx to MR • Does not migrate: • Security – MR uses windows authentication; reconfigure in MR • Company connection information – FRx used ODBC connection, MR does not • Report chains – you create Report Groups in MR, and you can override the report date and location. • Web publishing settings – MR allows you to distribute secure report links to existing SharePoint shared document library for report distribution. • Effective dates – This has been tracked as a suggestion for future releases, please vote in Customer Source • Account sets – is not a feature in MR as there is no way to map account sets to dimension value sets in MR • Currency Translation Rates – MR relies on the information in SL for translated data. • Email settings – MR allows you to distribute reports to SharePoint shared document libraries which let you the users create alerts to be notified which a report is ready for review. You can also send a link to a report in email from MR Report Viewer • Row links – suggestion was to use link to Financial Dimensions + Worksheet.
