  1. My Act LocalProject By: Ethan Sayre

  2. My Charity! The charity that I pickedfor my Act Local project is Metro Relief Food Pantry. It isin The Colony. The Food Pantry provides food to people who do not have enough money to buy food at the grocery store. Maybe because they lost their jobs or are sickor maybe just need extra help. I learned that this organization helps about 100 families each week with groceries. This picture is one of the shelves at the food pantry.

  3. My Idea! I wrote letters to all of my friends and family to tell them about my project. I asked them to help out the food pantry and buy 1 jar of peanut butter the next time they go to the store. The reason I picked peanut butter is because it saves for a long time, you can eat it with every meal, and it has good nutrition. I gave the letters to my friends from my old school, my baseball team, and my family. I sent about 30 letters and said my goal was to collect 25 jars of peanut butter total. This is a picture of me writing my letters.

  4. TONS OF PEANUT BUTTER!! I was really happy because I started getting lots of peanut butter from everyone. Here is the list of my friends and family that gave me peanut butter— Uncle David and Aunt Chrissy, Aunt Angela and Uncle Jimmy, AJ, Samantha, Emma, Brock, Dustin & Heather, Wyatt, Owen, Ward, Blake, Lance, Logan, Coop, Andrew, Max, Will, Grandma & Grandpa Sayre, Grandma & Grandpa Comley, and Grandpa & Nana Wolf. I am lucky to have so many good friends that helped!

  5. My total collected was 37 jars of peanut butter and $10 cash!

  6. Donating the Peanut Butter I took the peanut butter to the Metro Relief Food Pantry on Saturday, November 1st with my family. We got to look around the food pantry and see how it works. Pam was the Director that showed me everything. She showed me where families check in. They get a card to show them how much food each family gets off of each shelf. I learned that the most popular food items that run out of are Mac-N-Cheese, Corn, and Cereal. They also help people by getting to know them so they canfind out if they need help getting a job, or if they are sick and need a doctor. Pam told me that some people that volunteer there used to people that came there for help and can now give back. She said that was really nice. The food pantry is open 3 times during the week for people to come and get groceries. They have a hard time getting donations in the Summer time. This is a picture of the card for a family with 3, 4 or 5 people. It says how many of each food they can get off each color shelf.

  7. Soup N Bowl Metro Relief has a big fundraiser every year called the Soup N Bowl. They sell tickets to people to come for a fun night to eat soup, have a silent auction and get a bowl as a gift at the end. The event this year is on January 25th. They need people to come and paint bowls at The Royal Brush and donate their painted bowl to the Soup N Bowl to give away at the event. I went to paint a bowl on October 11th. I took my sister Emma, my mom, my cousin Caitlin and my Grandpa Wolf. We donated all 5 of our bowls. It was fun! This is me, my sister, and my cousin painting bowls.

  8. And there is more… I am going to volunteer at the Soup N Bowl. The lady organizing the event Lisa asked me if Mr. Martin can come help be a celebrity guest server that night. I asked him and he said he might be able to do it. I think it will be fun! All of the money from the Soup N Bowl goes back to the food pantry to help them buy more food or other things they need that people do not donate. They can also use the money to buy groceries from the store in the summer when people don’t bring donations as much.

  9. The Endby Ethan Sayre I liked doing this project and learned a lot about the Food Pantry. I had never been to a food pantry before and it made me sad. There was not a lot of food to choose from like at the grocery store and they can only get a little bit when they come. I am lucky that I don’t have to worry about having groceries. I am glad the food pantry is there to help people that need the help. You can learn more about this great organization by going to their website: www.Metrorelief.org www.ntxsoupnbowl.org
