Daily Warm-Up (I do)ALCOS # 3 5th grade A laptop computer originally cost $679.00. Its cost decreased 25%. What is the sale price of the laptop not including tax?
Solution To find “percent of” any number, change the percent to decimal form, then multiply by the original number. 25% becomes .25 (move decimal point 2 places to the left and take off the percent sign) Multiply .25 x 679.00 = $169.75 Then subtract discounted amount from the original price. $679.00-169.75 = $509.25 sale price.
Note: • If you are dealing with money and your decimal answer is longer than the hundredths place you will have to round the decimal number to the hundredths place before continuing.
