NWCT Mentoring Goals • Strengthen membership by demonstrating commitment to mentoring • Encourage increased participation through enhanced networking opportunities • Provide opportunity for NWCT members to learn from the experience of other members • Enable professional and personal growth and development for women at all levels • Enhance the value that NWCT provides for its members
Group Mentoring • Mentoring is an active partnership between committed participants to foster professional growth and career development. A successful mentoring relationship requires commitment, honesty and self-motivation. • The most successful mentees are those who: • Are motivated and feel empowered to plan and manage the direction of their professional life • Take responsibility for their own development, learning and professional growth • Are open to coaching, feedback and guidance from the mentor • Have realistic expectations and come prepared with areas they wish to improve or topics they seek to learn more about
Mentor Requirements • NWCT membership preferred but not required • Commit to 4 hrs/month for 3 months • Attend all scheduled sessions (in person) • Mentor kickoff (tbd) • Monthly Meetings (2 hrs each) • Wrap-Up Event • Join planning and/or follow-up conf calls (< 1hr/mth) • Prepare and actively participate in each session • Discussion topics will be provided at least a week prior to session • Share personal experiences or insights • Provide advice, coaching and/or feedback to mentees • Willing to take calls or emails from Mentees in between sessions (as your schedule permits) • Maintain Confidentiality with all participants

Group Meetings • Group Meetings are 2 hours, once per month • 15 minutes – Networking • 15 minutes – Mentor Panel discussion – topic intro • 70 minutes – Break out groups • 10 minutes – Wrap-up • Begin each session with a topic and have the Mentors each provide their thoughts or experience with the topic (panel discussion format) • Idea is to help the group get to know each other and start discussion • Break into smaller teams with one Mentor per team. • Mentees to discuss the topic further or discuss a different topic of interest to the team • Max 4-1 ratio of Mentor to Mentee • NWCT to sponsor 3 meetings • Groups or individuals may decide to continue on their own beyond that
Logistics • Acceptance into the program will be based on the number of applications received and overall fit with program goals and expectations • Applications will be considered based on: • Order received (First in) • Alignment of goals and expectations to ensure maximum value for all participants • Ability to fully participate in the program • Meeting Location and Dates are TBD • Every attempt will be made to find a central location • Monthly meeting schedule will be determined based on Mentor availability • Program to run Aug-Dec
Other Communication Channels • Leverage NWCT Linked-In groups to provide communication and further discussion between topics • Establish a members-only discussion board for all NWCT membership to use to post blog topics or questions that anyone in the Mentoring program could respond to. • Group conference calls may be scheduled between sessions if needed • Mentees can request individual mentor/mentee meetings but must be convenient for mentor • While the program encourages further communication to build a relationship, please be respectful of the mentor’s time and remember that the mentors are under no obligation outside of formal program meetings to be available
Next Steps • Promote the program and begin accepting applications from Mentors and Mentees • Review applications and notify participants • Finalize schedule/meeting logistics • Finalize discussion topics
