  3. Definition • Industrial Revolution - A period of change beginning in the late 18th century, during which goods began to be manufactured by power-driven machines

  4. Industrial Revolution - • Began in ENGLAND • Factories, steam engines are very important • The first industry was the TEXTILE (CLOTH) INDUSTRY

  5. Issues • Child labor was a huge problem • More people move to cities • Population increases • Issues with overpopulation (diseases, crime) • Pollution!!!!!!!!

  6. Factory Production • Concentrates production in oneplace [materials, labor]. • Located near sources of power [rather than labor or markets]. • Requires a lot of capital investment[factory, machines, etc.] morethan skilled labor.
