2. Objectives This presentation will provide an overview of the enhanced vPC-GR Retirement capability and will highlight some of the new features available to you. At the end of this tutorial you will be able to:
Submit an online retirement application in Dashboard
Use Dashboard to withdraw, change and monitor the status of your application
(Commanders only) Recommend approval or disapproval of a retirement application in Dashboard
Prepare for the transition to Defense Integrated Military Human Resource System (DIMHRS) which will have a similar online retirement process.
3. Overview Capability users: All ARC members except HQ Reserve AGR and HQ ANG Stat Tour (title 10)
Account holders access application through vPC-GR dashboard
Member completes retirement request form and selects commander role or next coordinator from individual search (based on local policy)
Justification required if retirement effective date (RED) is within 6 months; except: non-participating (S7), officers MSD, enlisted HYTD, and ANG non-retention selectees
Members identify if they are an Air Reserve Technician (ART) or ANG Technician to forward application to CPF or state HRO
4. Overview Unit Commander reviews application to recommend approval and retention (6 months) waiver, Officer Grade Determination (OGD)
OGD must be considered for all officers
Commander forwards application to Wing Commander/ Program Manager (PM) for concurrence
Wing CC/PM submits retirement application to ARPC for approval process
Request to withdraw or change retirement effective date can be done online and will require Wing CC/PM recommendation prior to submitting to ARPC

6. Things To Do Inform your commander & supervisor of your desired Retirement Effective Date
Ensure you are aware of any local retirement policy
Prepare any required attachments
Waivers
Reserve Service Commitment – If within a commitment period
Curtailment – If serving on a current AGR tour
Memorandums
DD Form 2656 Pay Form – If requesting AD retirement or retirement for maximum age (Members retiring at maximum age are NOT required to submit a retirement application)

23. Notes on Coordination Coordination will depend on where a member is assigned in an organization and what type of organization they’re in.
A traditional retirement application is submitted by the member, Unit CC makes a recommendation, Wing CC makes a recommendation and then sends the application to ARPC for approval.
If member is assigned to the State HQ, then it only goes from the member to Commander, State (JFHQ) before being submitted to ARPC.
If a member has a Group CC rather than a Unit CC they may only coordinate with their Wing CC, or the Group CC may be assigned a Unit CC role in order to be involved.
Be aware of and follow any locally developed coordination guidelines.
