Comparative-Advantage • Supporting reasons are presented as a benefit to the audience. • The benefit of each reason is stated in comparison form.
Monroe’s Motivated Sequence-best with favorable audiences • Draw attention to a problem and possible solutions. • Ask the audience to take action to solve the problem.
INDUCTIVE APPROACH • Use with hostile audiences. • Two types: • Classic Inductive • Negative Method
Classic Inductive • Begin with your supporting evidence. • Build to the statement of the specific purpose.
Negative Method • Builds a case for one best option. • No other option but the speaker’s is viable or acceptable.
