Academic Scholars Program (ASP)Program Rules • A student must enter the program the fall semester immediately after his/her class graduates from high school • Students are eligible for consideration as an Institutional Nominee no later than the fall semester immediately following the graduation of their high school class
Academic Scholars Program (ASP)How To Apply • ACT or SAT Automatic Qualifiers should complete and mail the Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Application to OSRHE • The ASP application can be found on OKCollegeStart.org
Academic Scholars Program (ASP)How To Apply • Presidential Scholars, National Merit Scholars, and National Merit Finalists should contact their institution to apply • Students who do not automatically qualify should contact the institution’s financial aid office for more information on the nomination process

Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Extension Requests The guidelines shown below will be used to review requests for extensions to the eight semester limit on Academic Scholars awards :
Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Extension Requests • Extension requests will not be given for students pursuing double majors, second undergraduate degrees, or graduate degrees • Students with extraordinary circumstances or who enter a professional degree program that does not require an undergraduate degree will be considered on a case-by case basis
Academic Scholars Program (ASP)Program Rules • To receive payment for enrollment in a summer term, the student must submit the summer term application to the State Regents’ office by the application deadline
Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Summer Term • Summer term award counts as one-half (1/2) of a regular academic semester • Summer term award is one-half (1/2) of a regular academic semester award at the summer institution • Student has to earn at least six credit hours for the summer term or will be ineligible for payment for the fall semester.
Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Summer Term • If receiving a summer term award, to be eligible for award in the fall semester: • Student must have earned a total of 30 semester credit hours for the preceding year • Student must have earned a 3.25 cumulative GPA • Student must be enrolled full time
Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Transfer Rules • An Institutional Nominee of a two-year institution: • Cannot transfer to a four-year institution until completion of an associate’s degree or 48 credit hours • Must attend the nominating institution for the first year • An Institutional Nominee of a four-year institution: • Can transfer to another Oklahoma institution after one year of attendance at the nominating institution

Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Leave of Absence Rules • Students may take a leave of absence if not enrolled, unless the student is studying abroad • Studying abroad • Student can either take a leave of absence or request scholarship assistance • If scholarship assistance requested while studying abroad, student is required to meet all enrollment and GPA requirements
Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Reinstatement Rules • Scholarship assistance will not be awarded to students who fail to meet continuing eligibility requirements • A student may be reinstated to the program only one time and has one year to remedy GPA or credit-hour deficiency
Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Reinstatement Rules • Any semesters during which the student receives no award because of GPA or credit hour deficiency will be subtracted from their available semesters in the program • Any period of enrollment that the student does not accept scholarship award payment will be subtracted from the available semesters in the program, except intersession and summer terms
Academic Scholars Program (ASP) Reinstatement Rules • A student may be reinstated to the program: • If the student achieves a 3.25 cumulative GPA at the end of the following fall or spring semester or summer term; or • If the student remedies the credit-hour deficiency by earning 12 credit hours in addition to the number of hours deficient in the following fall, spring, or summer term
