D.A.S.H. • Date: September 10, 2013 • Agenda: Begin the study in Chapter 2. • State Objective: Content Standard 1--The student will analyze the transformation of the United States through its civil rights struggles, immigrant experiences, • settlement of the American West, and the industrialization of American society in the Post-Reconstruction through the Progressive Eras, 1865 to 1900. • Homework/Classwork: Bellringer, Warm-up Exercise, Video and Notes, Working on Chapter 2 Assignments.

  5. It happened on this day The first drunk driving arrest happened in London in 1897. Cab driver George Smith slammed his cab into a building. He pled guilty and paid a fine. The U.S. didn’t pass D.U.I. laws until 1910 and New York was the first state to pass such a law.

  6. Warm-up Exercise This is a practice to see how observant you are as a history student. Take your picture and walk QUIETLY around the room looking for a similar picture. No talking! Show your picture to your classmates and find the other 2 or 3 that are representative of the same topic. After you have finished matching pictures then sit as a group and determine what your topic is. Speak in a low voice so as not to disturb others. Be prepared for someone in the group to serve as spokesperson and provide your discoveries to the class.

  7. Video and Notes We are going to watch a portion of the video series, The West. It is a documentary which means you do need to take notes. Write down any points of interests, facts, questions, comments, etc. I will stop the video to comment so you may ask questions or make comments at that time.

  8. Chapter 2 Assignments Coach Rucker had you working on each lesson’s review sections. Make sure by the end of this week that that work is completed and turned in. Introduction to the unit assignment.
