Adibidea Bederatzu kidetako talde batean bakoitzak zenbat diru daraman poltzikoan aztertuz gero, hau da duten euro kopurua, txikientik handienera ordenatu ondoren: 6; 6,5; 7; 7; 7; 7,5; 8 ; 9 eta 68. Kasu honetan mediana 7 da. Batezbestekoa berriz 126/9 = 14 da, medianaren bikoitza. Kasu honetan batezbestekoa eta mediana oso ezberdinak dira, hau “68” muturreko balioagatik izan da.
