1. Introduction: process overview ATTEND PAY CONTRACT REGISTER SELECT Expert invited (EMI) to submit LE/BA (EMPP) for validation (ABAC). Contract generated (EMI). Sent to expert for signature (EMPP). Signed by EC (COMPASS) Once Attendance Session ends, expert invited (EMI) to submit payment request (EMPP) for processing (COMPASS/EMI/ ABAC). PO searches for required expertise & creates pool (EMI) for submission to Director for approval (COMPASS). Attendance Session for work period created (EMI). Expert invited to draft payment request (EMPP). Expert registers profile (EMPP). All valid profiles sent to EMI.
2. Expert Registration • The Expert area in the Participant Portal is a front-end platform for experts interactions with the research DGs and Agencies. • The system was launched in July 2012 and currently serves as a registration service for experts to submit their profile (replaces CORDIS) with a view to being considered for an assignment with the Commission/Agency. • 53,125 experts currently registered of which 42,915 are valid profiles.
2. Expert registration • One of the main objectives of the registration service launched in July 2012 was to enhance the data quality: • structured format for consistency & improving search feature; • requirement to complete all fields in order to have a 'valid' profile. Only valid profiles are visible in EMI. • Call for expression of interest to be published on 22 November 2013 and H2020 registration in EMPP will be open. • Interested experts will be required to select H2020 box and advised to update their expertise (new specialist fields and pre-defined themes). • Communication campaign to be launched targeting existing & new experts.

Expert registration • Experts will access the Registration Service from two different locations: • Experts wishing to take part in Research programmes will access the service from the Participant Portal. • Experts wishing to take part in Education, Audiovisual and Culture programmes will access the Registration Service from the Education, Audio visual & Culture Executive Agency page on Europa. • The forms are common for experts for all programmes with some specificities notably the area of expertise section with different 'tree structures' for specialist fields and pre-defined themes.
3. New features for H2020 • Expert will submit their 'Legal Entity' (identity details) & Bank Account via online forms. • 'Contract' replacing FP7 'Appointment Letter'. • Electronic signature and online submission of payment request. • Communication relating to the contract & payment via EMPP. Other ad-hoc communication, via e-mail addresses indicated by the Commission. • Payment within 30 calendar days (new Financial Regulation). • Obligation for the expert to keep the original supporting documents for a period of 2 years.
3. New features for H2020 • When an expert needs to take an action, they are notified by email with a link to the relevant page in the Portal. • The expert can also access the request/relevant document by logging into the Portal and going to the 'My contracts' tab.
