  2. Organized • Have you ever packed a suitcase and noticed how much more you can fit inside when you neatly fold and organized your clothes instead of just throwing them in?

  3. Life • The Same with your life.. • The better you organize yourself, the more you’ll be able to pack in • More time for family, and friends • More time for school • More time for yourself • More time for your first things

  4. Activity Give Definitions of each type of Time Manager • The Procrastinator • The Prioritizer • The Yes Man • The Slacker

  5. Procrastinator • The Procrastinator is someone who puts off important tasks till another day or time, they defer; delay and wait until the last minute. • Procrastinators often experience stress, anxiety, burnout and mediocre performance.

  6. Prioritizer • The prioritizerarranges or does things in order of importance. • The prioritizerwill save the best for last, has more balance and control of their life and has a high performance.

  7. The Yes Man • The Yes Man says “Yes” to everyone and everything and does not know how to say “No”. • The Yes Man can’t say no because they are afraid to offend someone. • The result is achieving the reputation of being a pleaser, also lacking discipline, and the feeling of being a doormat for others to wipe their feet on.

  8. The Slacker • The Slacker avoids getting their work done. • They love anything in excess like too much t.v., much sleep, too many video games or too much time skating, at the mall or on the web. • The Slacker is a professional loafer and lacks responsibility.

  10. B-Crew Mentors • See signs in four corners of the room • Students go to the one that best describes you • Have a group discussion about the advantages & disadvantages of belonging to this time manager • Which time manager allows us to be more successful with our time 15 Minutes

  11. Where do you spend your time? Take out a sheet of paper • Think and write about everything you did the day before. • What took up most of your time? 5 Minutes Hanging out

  12. Do a Pair Share with a Partner… Answer the Following Questions • Did the things that filled up your day matter most to you? • Where did you waste your time? • Where were you the most productive?

Video Clip Talk about the TIME QUADRANT MODEL • See handout “The Time Quadrants” • Two things to look at “Important & “Urgent” • Important Your most important things, your first things, activities that contribute to your mission and your goals. • Urgent Pressing things, in-your face things, activities that demand immediate attention. In general we spend our time in four different quadrants, as shown on next slide. Each quadrant contains different kinds of activities and is represented by a type of person. (see handout)

Baby Steps • Set a goal to use a planner for one month • Identify your biggest time waster. • Are you a “Pleaser,” someone who says yes to everything and everyone. • If you have an important test one week, don’t procrastinate and wait until the day before to study. • Think of something you’ve procrastinated for a long time but that’s very important to you. • Note your ten most important big rocks for the upcoming week. • Identify a fear that is holding you back from reaching your goals. • How much impact does peer pressure have on you? Identify the person or people who have the most influence upon you.
