RCUWM-Tehran is one of the 18 Category II Centre’s, acting under the auspices of UNESCO in the field of water management issues. This centre was officially inaugurated in February 2002, by an agreement signed and exchanged between I.R. Iran and UNESCO. Introduction
The Center is an advisory and coordinating body which steers the execution of the program of activities by means of universities, researchers, and governmental agencies in order to enhance sustainable use of water resources. Mission
To provide scientific and technical information; • To promote research on UWM; • To undertake effective capacity building activities; • Cooperation with international institutions. Objectives
RCUWM-Tehran Governing Board is the highest constituent for decision making • At present 15 countries and 8 International organizations are involved in the Governing Board of the Centre at the highest level (ministries and head of organizations. RCUWM Governing Board

Training Workshop on “Integrated Urban Water Management” • Date: 2 – 5 August 2010 • Venue: Dushanbe - Tajikistan • Organizers:RCUWM, IDB, Ministry of Water Economy and Land Reclamation • Objectives: • Strengthening Human Resources, organizational capacity building and improving public awareness on urban water challenges • Familiarizing participants with the principles for demand management and water governance • Familiarizing participants with modeling and some useful software in the field of flood and urban water management • Creating an opportunity for participants to share their ideas and view points; Workshops
Workshop on “International Water Laws and Policies” Date: 20 – 25 June 2010 Venue: Dundee – Scotland Organizers:RCUWM, Dundee UNESCO Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science Objectives: The main goal of this event is capacity development and the target group would be managers, decision makers and experts involved in water resources management. First National Workshop on “Capacity Development for Farm Management Strategies to improve Crop Water productivity using AquaCrop” Date: 9-12 May 2010 Venue: Kish - Iran Organizers:RCUWM, Khouzestan Water and Power Authority, Khouzestan Agricultural Research Centre Objectives: The main objective was to familiarize participants with the applications of AquaCrop in order to improve their skills in strategic farm management practices toward increasing crop water productivity in rain fed and irrigated productivity systems. Technical Visit for Iraqi General Managers Date: 9-14 October 2010 Venue: Tehran, Mazandaran and Khorasan Organizers:RCUWM, Ministry of Energy – Iran, Toosab Consulting Engineers Objectives: The main objective of this visit was presenting I.R. Training Course on“Application of GIS and RS in Water Resources Management” Date: 19 – 22 December 2010 Venue: Muscat – Sultanate of Oman Organizers:RCUWM, Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, Oman Objectives: The purpose of the Regional Course was to provide participants with the basic skills of GIS and RS required for integrated and sustainable management of water resources. It was also expected to encourage experience and knowledge sharing among the Nile Countries. The overall goal was introducing GIS as a powerful decision making tool in water resources management.
