History of LCT • Open Community meeting – Jan 2009 • Crosby Ravensworth Housing Group formed • Meeting monthly – explored various approaches • – existing charities / Housing Assoc / CLT • Wooler CLT visit • CLT approach determined

Our Aim … the support or promotion of any charitable purpose for the benefit of the community in the area of the Lyvennet Valley incorporating the parishes of Crosby Ravensworth and King's Meaburn
Our Aims (Cont’d) • The provision of affordable housing for those in local need • The advancement of citizenship or community development • The advancement of environmental protection or improvement • The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage • Other purposes recognised as charitable under the existing law and any new purposes which are similar to another prescribed purpose
Why a Community led Approach • Existing charities + an active community • Guarantee local priorities • For the parish forever • Ensure local affordability • Control & communication = confidence & support • Decide scale, appearance, tenures offered • Local occupancy criteria

Vision for the future Cumbria Stoneworks site transformed – 10 affordable & 8 self build – all meeting local need Ability to move on to other ideas – pub rescue? micro brewery? Shop? …….…etc Other phases – small exception sites to meet further local need? Happier more confident community - taking part in own regeneration
