The WTP Supplier Qualification Objectives • WTP Supplier Qualification Objective • Assure that procured Important-To-Safety (ITS) materials and services meet established requirements and are therefore acceptable for use in the construction of the Waste Treatment Plant. • WTP Objective Achieved by • Suppliers who manage the quality of ITS materials and services through an approved NQA-1-1989 quality assurance program.

Why We Specify NQA-1-1989 • It’s In Our Contract With DOE • NQA-1-1989 Provides a Management System By Which the Supplier Manages the Quality of Its Products • NQA-1-1989, When Correctly and Fully Implemented, Provides a Substantial Degree of Confidence that Products Meet Nuclear Industry Standards • NQA-1-1989 Ensures That Adequate Documentation of Quality and Processes Exist in Order to Prove Compliance to Regulators, the Public, and to DOE

Supplier Qualification Process • Prior to Award: • Review the Supplier’s QA Manual to NQA-1 • Survey the Supplier’s Facility for Both Capability and for QA Program Implementation • Place Supplier on the Approved Supplier’s List • With Restriction to Perform an Audit After the Start of Fabrication • Other Restrictions May Apply as Applicable

Supplier Qualification Process (cont’d) • After Award • Assist Engineering with QA Manual Statusing • Conduct Annual Evaluations of the Supplier • Conduct NQA-1 Implementation Audits During the Course of the Work • Issue SCARs Where Lack of Implementation is Noted • Follow-up and Close SCARs as appropriate • Issue Stop Work or Stop Shipment Restrictions When Conditions Warrant • Maintain Supplier Status on the ASL
