  2. Male Reproductive Part of the Plant • Stamens : Anthers – Produce Pollen Pollen – sperm nuclei Filament holds up the Anther

  3. Female reproductive structure of plant Pistil – contains stigma, style and ovary Stigma – sticky substance to catch pollen Style – supports stigma Ovary – contains ovule when fertilized will develop into a seed

  4. Self Pollination of flowers • When a pollen transfers to the stigma of a flower on the same plant

  5. Cross Pollination • Pollen moves from one plant to another of the same species.

  6. Cross pollination • Wind, water and other animals are a necessity for pollination to occur in flowering plants

  7. Fertilization • One sperm nucleus unites with the fused egg nucleus in an ovule, the egg begins to develop into a seed.

  8. Pollen Grains • Contain three nuclei – two sperm and one tube nucleus • Tube nucleus begins forming tube that grows down to the ovary once the pollen lands on the stigma. • The ovule which contains the egg, one sperm nucleus unites with the egg and developesinto a seed.
