French Embassy in China – S&T Department - Missions • Main missionsor objectives : « Make French science better known in China and Chinese science better known in France » • Stimulate and support French-Chinese research partnerships by fostering exchange of researchers but also students in PhD for example • Promoting the mobility of researchers between France and China

  7. SINO FRENCH S&T JOINT COMMITTEE – 30 MAY 2011 • PRIORITIES : • - Sustainable development, biodiversity and management of water • - Green Chemistry and technologies • - Energy • - Life sciences • - TIC • - Advanced materials

French Embassy in China – S&T Department - Programme • Better mutual knowledge : • FTI (France Talents Innovation = France Innovation Talents) • Granting young Chinese scientists for a short customised trip in French labs • Zhang Heng ( Discover China) NEW • Granting young French scientists coming for a short trip in China to meet potential partners • Xu Guangqi Programme Call for elementary research proposals, open to French and Chinese joint teams wishing to start a cooperation

French Embassy in China – S&T Department - Programme • Cai Yuanpei Programme - A French-Chinese funded common call for proposals. - The proposals should be more consistent and balanced between the two partners • Launched in 2009 • Partners: MESR, MAEE in France and MOE (CSC) in China • Objective: • To develop high standards scientific and technological exchanges between labs of the 2 countries around thesis in co-tutelle or co-direction • Main criteria: mobility of PhD and Post doct

French Embassy in China– S&T Department PHC CAI YUANPEI • A call for proposal • Double evaluation by French and Chinese experts • Selection of the projects by a joint committee • Criteria: scientific excellence, excellence of all the applicants, innovative topic, complementarity of the teams, competence of the teams,

French Embassy in China– S&T Department PHC CAI YUANPEI • Each project has a minimum of 4 people, 2 researchers and 2 students • Duration of the project is 2 years • 1st call: selection in 2010 of 22 projects among 82 • Funds are allocated to support the trips of the researchers, scholarships of the students, duration of the stays between 6 and 24 months on the 2 years

French Embassy in China – S&T Department - Programme Granting high level Chinese researchers For a stay in France (SSHN/HLSS : high level scientific stays) • Promoting French doctoral schools • Among Chinese graduating students • FRANCE EXCELLENCE NEWScholarships for master programmes in France

  13. French Embassy in China – S&T Department - Programme Frontiers of Science (in preparation) • Organising every year a trans-disciplinary French-Chinese workshop • focused on a wide theme. •  « Café des sciences »  • Informal lecture given by a French expert

  14. French Embassy in China – S&T Department - Programme CooPolFostering cooperations between French clusters and Chinese technologic parks. It grants a tandem company / scientist looking for partners in Chinese labs.
