  2. Cum clause • Begins with cum • Ends with a subjunctive verb • Use “when, since” to translate

  3. Indirect Question • Contains a question word – quis, quid, ubi, cur, quomodo, quot, etc. • Ends with a subjunctive

  4. Indirect Command • Contains a command word – iubeo, mando, hortor, incito, persuadeo, rogo, moneo, etc. • Ends with a subjunctive • Uses ut/ne

  5. Result • Contains a “so” word – ita, tam, sic, tantus, etc. and uses ut/ne • Ends with subjunctive • Set up like a “your momma” joke

  6. Purpose • Usually best to identify last, as there are no particular words significant to purpose clauses • Uses ut + Subjunctive

  8. Fearing Clauses • Uses a fearing word, often a verb – vereor, timeo • Uses ut/ne, but ne is for the positive • Uses the subjunctive
