2. Far From the madding crowd • Based on the acclaimed 1874 novel by Thomas Hardy, “Far From the Madding Crowd” chronicles a beautiful young woman called Bathsheba Everdene played by Carey Mulligan and her relationships with three very different men. Set in 1870 Victorian Britain, Bathsheba, who has inherited a large farm from her uncle, becomes the center of attention for three men. After a chance meeting with a sheep farmer, Gabriel Oak, Gabriel proposes marriage to Bathsheba, but is refused, as she does not consider him suitable. Gabriel loses most of his herd and becomes a faithful shepherd for Bathsheba. She then meets a neighbouring well-to-do farmer, Mr. Boldwood, who impresses Bathsheba. She later sends him a valentine as a bit of a joke which excites Boldwood, and he later proposes marriage. Bathsheba puts him off, but it is assumed that she will succumb. In a subplot, a marriage between Bathsheba's servant, Fanny Robin, and the dashing Sergeant Troy is stopped because of a misunderstanding. Troy turns his attentions to Bathsheba and impresses her with his dazzling sword practice. Troy gains her hand in marriage, leaving Boldwood heartbroken. Meanwhile, the hapless Fanny dies in the workhouse, and her body is brought back to Bathsheba's farm. Bathsheba discovers the corpse of a baby, Troy's child, beside that of Fanny. Troy then disappears, and when his clothes are discovered on a beach, it is presumed that he has drowned. Boldwood reappears on the scene, and Bathsheba agrees to marry him out of a sense of remorse. Troy, however, unexpectedly returns and is killed by the distraught Boldwood, who is later tried and found insane. Bathsheba is at last ready to see the true worth of Gabriel, who has faithfully waited like the Oak of his last name, and the two are married. • This is an independent film

3. Ethnofiction- • Ethnofiction is a neologism which refers to an ethnographic docufiction, a blend of documentary and fictional film in the area of visual anthropology. • This is the genre we are going to be using in our film so I thought it was necessary to do all of the correct research. • Here are some examples: • For those who will follow - The young men at Ile-aux-Coudres try to revive an old method of fishing for belugas in the St. Lawrence River. • I, a Negro - Eddie and Edward journey to the capital of the Ivory Coast and struggle with a new way of life as their new modern lifestyle clashes with their traditional ways of life. • Ala-Arriba - is a 1942 Portuguese romantic docufiction set in Póvoa de Varzim, a traditional Portuguese fishing town. Dealing with ethnographic matters, it may be considered as an ethnofiction.

Ethnofiction- • This type of genre is rare so is usually made by an independent company, conglomerates usually go for the more common popular films so therefore these types of films with have a smaller budget and most likely less equipment to work with, in turn likely to make the film less popular or ‘known’. • Although independent film remained known until the 80′s, it then saw the appearance of filmmakers which managed to appeal to more viewers. Finally, independent cinema was getting a special place on the film scene. Faced with the undeniable success of films made ​​with real talent and offering truly original works, major Hollywood studios had no choice but to engage with the so-called independent film production. From that time on the split between independent cinema and Hollywood studios started to diminish or, arguably, even disappear altogether
