NAPUS-WG GOAL • To enable national consistency across Canada for measuring network availability and performance. Where possible, leveraging network tools and resources between ORANs and CANARIE.
Perf-Sonar Next Steps • Every ORANS should have at least 1 or more perf-sonar machines. • Some funding will likely be available from Canarie for this. • Canarieto provide update regarding this. • Terry to update on server recommendations WorkGroup.
Perf-Sonar • Magic Layer • Glue between recommendations in this document and PerfSonar technical Layer • Numbers we want vs. flood of stats from PerfSonar boxes everywhere • Who is to develop the scripts? • Student • Hire • Plan to develop tools that retrieve the relevant perf-sonar data. • Present in such a way that it can be used as an input for the reports (as recommended in doc). • Result could be an API of some sort. • Need to form a WorkGroup • To maximize benefit, proposal to unify set of tools and standardize on a few options. Brainstorming needed.
Cybera perf-sonar workshop • MONDAY October 1St The Banff Center – Free/$250 3 days • Introduction: Why Network Performance Matters • Performance Primer: TCP, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly • Monitoring Infrastructure: Hardware Choices and Machine Placement • (Hands On) Configuration a perfSONAR-PS Performance Toolkit • Using Throughput Tools • Using Latency Tools • Data Interpretation • Use Cases
