Attendance & Tardies • CCS Board Policy emphasizes the important of consistent attendance in order to support personal success in the classroom and in life. • In order to be successful at whatever you choose to do, you have to be “present” to do it. • Remember, once you hit 8 absences (excused and unexcused) in a class, you are in jeopardy of not receiving credit. • Also, a student will be given one absence for each class when he/she has accumulated a combined total of four tardies, check-ins and/or check-outs.
Steps to Follow When Absent from School CCS will send a ConnectEd message to your parent/guardian. Upon return to school, bring the original note from a parent/guardian, doctor, court of law, etc. The note should list your name, dates of absences, specific reason for the absences and parent’s signature. Present the note to the school attendance secretary. All notes must be submitted within five (5) days of an absence. Request make-up assignments from each of your teachers.
Tardies and Revised Consequences You are “tardy” to class when the tardy bell rings and you are not ready to learn in the teacher’s classroom. We will keep the same “sweep & keep” process as first semester. A staff member will write you a pass, you go directly to class, and Mrs. Platt will record your tardy. In an effort to keep everyone in class learning, we have revised our tardy consequences. Administration reserves the right to adjust consequences as necessary on a case-by-case basis.
Tardies and Revised Consequences • 1st & 2nd Tardy=Warning • 3rd & 4th Tardy=Lunch Detention • 5th Tardy=After School Detention • 6th Tardy=Administrative conference with student and parent and ASD • 7th & 8th Tardy=Class period of ISS • 9th Tardy=Saturday School or loss of driving privileges • 10th Tardy and subsequent tardies=Administrative Discretion Note: Please remember that parking on campus is a privilege. For those of you who drive and wish to keep that privilege, you must keep your tardies under control.
