  2. Your task is to answer this question “HOW CAN GEOGRAPHY HELP YOU?” You need to answer this question fulfilling the criteria on the next slides:

  3. Describe and explain the differences between at least two settings in which Geography helps you This can be • At school • At home with your family • When you travel and go on holidays • Whether it will help you with further study or a future career you’d like to go into

  4. Show accurate use of scale and symbols in any diagrams used Think back to the map skills work we did at the beginning of the year in Geography!

  5. Use a range of visual data sources • Maps • Graphs • Diagrams • Charts • Pictures • Symbols

  6. Describe whether each of your data sets is economic, social, environmental, political For example if you are talking about how Geography helped you understand more about the World Cup and the lives of people in Brazil, this would be social. If you were to talk about the money Brazil made during the World Cup this would be economic.

  7. What are they looking for? • The FUN and SERIOUS sides of Geography • How you can relate the value of Geography to different settings • Recognition of the value of both human and physical Geography • USE GEOGRAPHICAL TERMS

  8. How will I present it? • Your work needs to be presented as an annotated diagram or map (Maximum size A3)

  10. You need to bring your Learning Challenge in on Monday 8th September and hand it to your tutor . • We will short list the entries and send them to the YGOTY panel. Winners will be announced in November
