Your Advisor in OIS:Mr. Daniel Whitmer What I do: • Serve as your advisor for all J-1 and F-1 issues • Act as a liaison with your sponsor • I am your sponsor’s contact at IU for any problem or issue they might have. • Help you or your sponsor with “special” requests • Coordinate sponsored student admissions • I am willing to help you with a variety of issues, so please contact me any time! • Review Sponsored Student Services: http://ois.indiana.edu/sss/

  5. Issues to Think About • Health Insurance • Does your sponsor provide this for you? If yes, you need to do the waiver on i-Start. • If you are using the IU health insurance, renew it each semester! • TRANSCRIPTS • Your sponsor requires it! • I can issue your official transcript – please complete the e-form on i-Start • You can order your own transcript from the Office of the Registrar, but they cost $10 each. Through me it is free!

Issues to Think About • Office of the Bursar and Your School Bill: • If your school bill goes to your sponsor directly: be sure to file your Financial Document with the Bursar each year – or email to Daniel. • Monitor all emails from the Office of the Bursar and take care of any issues quickly. • Do you have any holds on your account? Check OneStart • You may have incomplete requirements: • Turn in official transcripts from previous schools • Immunizations • If you are not sure about your hold, email Daniel for help
