  8. Aucuba japonica • Foliage: Opposite, simple, lustrous, leathery leaf. • Comments: Drought tolerant; young leaves exposed to sun will blacken; easy to transplant; remains dense even in heavy shade; male and female plants aves; 3 to 8" long; rounded green stems
