  1. Wie haben sie gewohnt? Das Langhaus ist die typische Wohnform der Irokesen, in dem mehrere Familien einer Sippe lebten. In diesem Haus hatte jede Familie einen eigenen Bereich. Es war 50m lang. Das Pueblo bestand aus mehreren terrassenartig gestaffelten, übereinander gebauten Häusern aus Steinen, Lehm, Holz oder Adobe, die freistehend oder der natürlichen Felslandschaft angepasst sein konnten. Der Eingang in Form einer Luke befand sich auf dem Dach und ist nur über eine Leiter erreichbar. Das Tipi ist die Behausung der nomadisierenden Stämme der Plains, aber auch die vorrübergehende, sommerliche Wohnform der halbsesshaften Stämme der Prärie. Der Durchmesser konnte von 4m bis zu 10 oder 12m differenzieren. Das Tipi wurde oft bemalt. • Zurück
