  1. Portfolio InterOperability Project Simon Grant JISC CETIS & independent Portfolio Interoperability SIG meeting Manchester 2008-09-30

  2. Origins From some time back, a spec was wanted that was simpler easier to implement CETIS Portfolio SIG meeting, December 2006 Generated considerable discussion but not a great deal of practical action Continued pressure to do something practical

  3. PIOP – from December 2007 “Portfolio InterOperability Prototyping” Three teams in particular had a long history of tools, interoperability work, trials, collaboration Pebble Learning (PebblePad)‏ University of Nottingham (Passportfolio etc.)‏ Newcastle University (ePET)‏ They offered to serve as pioneers, to do the first prototype Important to start with fewest partners A little JISC funding was found as sweetener http://wiki.cetis.ac.uk/Portfolio_interoperability_prototyping

  4. PIOP project achievements Agreed LEAP2A based on their own real requirements and experience Export fairly straightforward Import more of a challenge, as expected, but real progress has been made Let them speak for themselves...

  5. Now the extension project Lisa Gray to introduce from JISC point of view

  6. Introduction to the call Paragraphs 10 to 15 mirror paragraph 19, deliverables test account scenarios mapping table glossary implement, document and report success of import implement and document export report on experiences Original partners to help new ones and explore further LEAP2A needs further development Now is your chance to get your requirements covered

  7. Selection criteria “develop or adapt an operational system, whether commercial or free / open source, for which there is substantial capability for interoperability” Having more users is better prospect of real benefit for more learners Giving more coverage of LEAP2A is better more benefit for each learner better for testing, developing, extending JISC project tie-in is good but other systems also very welcome

  8. Pre-commissioning by Oct 10th Description of system IP situation (to verify ability to develop and exploit)‏ Information in the system available for export Scenarios envisaged (in outline)‏ interoperation practice Numbers of learners using system Who will do the development Who will allocate their time

  9. Then? We will choose the most suitable for funding (20th Oct)‏ Work to be carried out November 2008 to March 2009 Projects will need to keep in close touch with us (CETIS), each other, and the original partners Not funded? very welcome to tread the same path, but without the obligations find someone funded who has the closest system make a case for JISC to provide further funding later We look forward to working with you
