  4. Scottish ‘forinsec’ service:- able-bodied men for 40 days a year, without pay. Along with knights, archers, men-at-arms owed by feudal grants. English professional army;- Commissioners of Array could select best infantry and archers from each county. Lords would have retinues of knights, esquires etc.. Paid daily wage.
