  1. Global Warming How Does Pollution Effect The Bronx River & Oceans? Team Gloridy Leon Michael Morris Tanasia Bouldin Thyisha Tellechea Michaelle Rivers Leishkadelith Gonell

  2. The Bronx River, approximately 24 miles (38 km) long flows Southeast New York in the United States. The Native American name was the Aquahung before the arrival of European colonists. It rises in the Kensico reservoir in Westchester County North of New York City. It flows south past White Plains. More than 60 million gallons of oil enter the ocean every year, but it’s not reported on the news. Bronx River

  3. Bronx River Continued Any oil seeps from oil-bearing rock layers into the ocean as a part of a natural process. When tankers running aground spill oil, this adds to oil deposits into the ocean. Currently these accidents deposit about 37 million gallons of oil into the ocean every year. Toxic wastes are poisonous materials that are being dumped into the water.

  4. Ocean Pollution • Large and small craft significantly pollute both in land and coastal water by dumping their untreated sewage. • Oil spilled accidentally or flushed from tankers and off shore rigs (900,000) metrictons annually) sullies beaches, smoother bird, fish and plant life. • In 1989 one of the worlds worst single instances of water pollution, the Exxon Valdez spilled 11 million gallons of oil in Prince William Sound Alaska. • Metals and slowly degrading chemicals threaten in land and coastal waters toxic materials settle into sea-floor sediments.

  5. The Oceans Can be Polluted By Garbage Dumping • What is garbage dumping ,you ask? • When humans • dump their garbage or other harmful materials are from garbage, the water bathing ,and plastics. • The garbage can also come from sewage. • Whenever the sewage pipes overflow from heavy rains or floods ,it can make it’s way into the ocean or a river or another source that leads ocean. • Sewage pollution can also lead oxygen depletion . • It could be very bad for the ocean, which would result in beach closings. • Garbage dumping is bad for the sea life , too. • A fish of some sort can eat a piece of plastics for example ,thinking it would be food .Then , it could die from suffocation.

  6. Bronx River Pollution I’m so happy that the program to introduce herring the Bronx River is continuing with bringing these fish back to their native water. Congressman Serrano said. “Today's release combined the beavers return to the river earlier this spring after a 200 year absence shows that our effort to clean and restore the river truly paying off. The river is rapidly becoming a place where wild life can thrive. It is a transformation of historic proportions and I salute all of those who have worked to make it a reality. I’m glad that I have been able to secure funding for this vital product and I look forward to more Bronx River successes in the near future.”

  7. The bottom of the Bronx River is polluted because people throw garbage in it. "STOP THE POLLUTION".

  8. What Has Been Accomplished Bronx River Forest In 2005 the Bronx River Forest , underwent a floodplain restoration that allowed the rivers high flow into its flood banks. The project also involved invasive vegetation removal and native planting. The focus on reconnecting the water with the land is an ecological objective of the Bronx River ecological restoration management plan. The Bronx River is the only freshwater river in New York City. For much of the 20th century, the reality of a river flowing through the Bronx was ignored and forgotten as the. Oftentimes people literally right next to the river were unaware of the natural wonder due to lack of safe access points. Water pollution covers 70% of the earth and only 3% of fresh water. 1% of fresh water and 2% of frozen fresh water .Pollution is a major cause to life in the whole world subsequently, they are slowly but surely harming our planet to the point where organisms are dying at a very alarming rate.
