So, why do we need to keep improving? • Prospective students are demanding increasing ROIs • Degree schemes are under increasing scrutiny re: employability e.g. KIS, league tables, NSS • Our investment so far as been well judged but has not finished because… • Our competitors leading in this agenda are dramatically increasing their investment further: • Aston – aiming for 100% engagement in formally assessed placements (35% overseas) • Birmingham – recruiting 25 FTEs placement officers • Nottingham – recruiting 22 FTEs work-related learning officers • Government & employers demanding more accountability from HE e.g. Wilson Review etc. • 4,800 / 50% of UGs p.a. attend 3-2-1 sessions – the DLHE outcome if it was 90%??
