TsunamiReady Improvement Outcomes (Cont.) • Mitigation • 3 Mandatory requirements: • Local Community Tsunami Mitigation Plan • Tsunami Hazard Addressed in State’s FEMA approved Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan • Community’s tsunami impact zone is defined (where inundation modeling and mapping are unavailable) • 100 total extra points can be given for additional mitigation activities accomplished by the community; 0 extra points required
TsunamiReady Improvement Outcomes (Cont.) • Preparedness • 6 Mandatory requirements: • Tsunami protocols integrated with Community’s Initial/First Responder Training • Conduct bi-annual tsunami preparedness exercise • Designate/establish tsunami hazard areas, evacuation routes, and assembly areas • Signage identifying tsunami hazard areas is installed and maintained • Written, locally specific, tsunami safety and response materials are provided to citizens • Annual workshops conducted to inform citizens on local tsunami hazard and safety and response procedures
