DEMOGRAPHICS. 583 male and 534 females (1,292 total) participated in the survey on April 16, 2011. There was an 8% increase of 1-20 year olds from 2010. Of these respondents, most of the trail use occurred between 11 am and 3 pm. Every Boise zip code was represented in the survey.

DEMOGRAPHICS • 583 male and 534 females (1,292 total) participated in the survey on April 16, 2011. • There was an 8% increase of 1-20 year olds from 2010. • Of these respondents, most of the trail use occurred between 11 am and 3 pm. • Every Boise zip code was represented in the survey. • Some respondents were visiting from other Idaho communities or from out-of-state (Montana, Missouri, Michigan, Oklahoma and Utah). • As expected, the majority of Foothill respondents were residents of the city of Boise or Treasure Valley area.
TRAIL ACCESS AND USE • More foothill users are getting to the trails by foot and fewer by bicycle than 2009. • The least visited trail area was Homestead trail. • As in 2010, most trail users on the Foothills were bicyclists. • 52% of respondents use the trails 1-2 hours -- similar to the data collected in 2010 and 2009.
TRAIL MANAGEMENT • Most foothill users support the idea of seasonally closing trails for wildlife and designating trails for specific uses. • Over 70% of foothill users support the idea of paying an annual fee, and 92% are willing to pay between $5 - $25.
