Graduate: Forrest McFaddin - I am a Desktop Support Specialist at Concord Management, a property management corporation. Most of my job is to be apart of a small group that supports over 150 apartment complex offices, as well as the corporate office - Well over 500 computers and laptops, and over 1000 users. The offices are located all throughout Florida, as well as different states such as Georgia, Michigan, and New York. Troubleshooting greatly varies between many hardware to software issues. I've been here since the end of November, 2010 and have felt well established since I've started.
Student Testimonial: I was recently hired by Microsoft Corporation as a System Engineer down here in Ft. Lauderdale. Been going through a 3 month training program. They will also be putting us through a boot camp style training to get all the new Certifications. Its going to be a bumpy ride but I'm really enjoying it. Just wanted to share that with you, so tell potential students that DSC credits looks good on a resume. :) Thank you for all your assistance. Nick Donatone
Student Testimonial Professor,This is William ( I go by Shawn). I graduated last year from your program with a wide array of degrees and certificates. You can see my picture on the front of my site http://www.shawnwilkerson.com/Early last month, Packt Publishing contacted me and asked me to write a book for them in areas of my expertise. The contract should be here by the end of the week, and I have already finished the first chapter. Even though I am currently taking 15 semester hours and running a business I expect the book to be finished by the end of the year -- five full months ahead of schedule. It will be up to the reviewers and editors at that point.I thought you might want to pass on to the department on what one of the Alumni are doing. Thank you again for allowing me the opportunity to attend classes and to integrate the program materials into my tool set.Sincerely,W. Shawn Wilkerson
Former Students: My time through the ATC and BAS program has provided me with a great understanding that there are talented students looking for opportunities to grow in this sluggish economy, I am hoping for your assistance in locating such talent. Should there be opportunities for me to assist the students academic pursuits, I am happy to assist and if there are any ways the College can assist my growing business, I do appreciate the input of ideas. Sincerely, Lance Hoskins CEO/Owner Team Logic IT of Flagler Co Hi Cheryl, I just want to say thank you for your help two years ago. You helped me to find a job at Pevonia International LLC. Student Testimonial – Liliana DurkeeCRG Global My name is Liliana Durkee and I graduated from Daytona State College with an Associate Degree in computer programming in May 2010. Before I graduated, I was required to do an internship. I did not know what to expect in the process of preparing for this class. Cheryl Miller, our Work Experience Coordinator at DSC, helped me greatly in this process. After several conversations with her I sent my resume to the State Attorney’s Office where I was accepted for the internship. In the few weeks that I worked there, I had the opportunity to experience a solid, well-built program. I also learned how the company that created this program is continuously involved in the process of improving, maintaining and most of all, teaching the user how to use the program at its maximum potential. I came back from this COOP class with a completely different perspective. It was a great experience, which improved my vision of my future job. Upon my graduation a year later, I confronted the job research process within an unfavorable market. After I had sent online applications to all possible companies that I thought could use my skills, I was very disappointed to see that I did not get any response, (not even a negative one.) Help arrived for the second time, from our work experience coordinator Cheryl Miller, after a year of researching online by myself. She informed me of a full time position with an employer in Ormond Beach. After two interviews, I was hired. I have been there for 6 months now, and hope for further advancement within this company. My advice now is to never underestimate our school employees, work coordinators, teachers and advisors. Their help and guidance cannot be underestimated. They exist to help all of us and they are doing a great job. I wish you all good luck and a successful career. Many thanks to Cheryl Miller and last and not least many thanks to my student advisor TK Rock who had a major role in my career as well.
