  4. France and Algeria • 1945, France suppressed Muslims, violence. • Algerians wanted independence. • 100,000’s Algerians killed during a 17 year war.

  5. Lack of Support • Organization Armee Secrete- attempted to assassinate de Gaulle numerous times. • De Gaulle agreed to allow Algerian independence in 1962.
