Places • The Alamo is a mission where a small band of Texans fought bravely against Mexican Troops. • The Battle of San Jacinto was where they got their independence. • Lone Star Republic is the nickname the Texans gave their new nation after they won independence. • Goliad is where several hundred Texan soldiers were killed and where they surrendered. • Gonzalez is a town where Texans clashed with Mexican troops in 1835.
